What is a Tatreez hoodie?
A Tatreez hoodie carries Palestinian Tatreez embroidery on a modern hoodie or sweatshirt. Motifs like the cypress tree, the eight-point star, flowers and the keffiyeh pattern turn an everyday basic into a piece with meaning. Learn what each motif means in our Palestinian tatreez patterns and meanings guide, and where the tradition comes from in Palestinian Tatreez history.

How our hoodies and sweatshirts are made
Our embroidered hoodies and sweatshirts are handcrafted at home in British Columbia by our two Palestinian founders. Each design is digitized in-house from traditional Tatreez and stitched one piece at a time on our own embroidery machine, with hand-stitching added where needed. Our hand-stitched Tatreez strips and panels, available as special orders, are made with Palestinian refugee women. TURATH FASHION was founded in 2021, and 25% of our profits go to humanitarian aid.
How to style a Tatreez hoodie
- Everyday: jeans or joggers and clean sneakers. Let the embroidery be the focus.
- Layered: under an open Tatreez denim jacket or long coat so the collar or sleeve embroidery peeks out.
- Matching: pick up the thread colour, like gold, turquoise or red, in your cap, toque or sneakers.
- Full heritage: add a keffiyeh made in Palestine.
How to care for your Tatreez hoodie
- Turn it inside out before washing to protect the embroidery.
- Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent.
- Hang or lay flat to dry. High dryer heat shrinks cotton and puckers stitching.
- If needed, iron from the inside, never directly on the embroidery.
